about

braunarts
On October 1st 1999 Illuminations Interactive transformed into Braunarts.
Braunarts has built on the success and reputation of Illuminations Interactive in creating new partnerships between the arts and new technology with a sharper focus on three interconnected areas of work:
  • The Performing Arts
  • Education
  • Creative Consultancy
The common link across these areas of interest is embodied in our commitment to the commissioning and production of new collaborations in the Digital Arts. Complementing this commitment is our vision for a more challenging use of new media to broaden the understanding of and access to the Arts and Learning.
Terry Braun and Gabriella Braun (formerly Rajeczy von Burian) have now have full responsibility for all current and future Braunarts projects.
Terry and Gabi are setting out from the beginning of this new venture to exploit the most effective tools that have come out of the 'digital revolution' to create a fully operational and largely paperless 'virtual company'. This virtual company will continue to draw on the creative partnerships that have underpinned Illuminations Interactive's success - allowing new and existing clients to continue to work with a familiar core team of award-winning designers, programmers, artists and media producers.
Illuminations Interactive was founded in 1990 by Terry Braun with John Wyver and Linda Zuck of Illuminations Television, to apply the creative potential of the very best broadcast television to the exciting new possibilities of interactive media. Illuminations Interactive gained a strong reputation developing interactive multi-media applications which continue to offer distinctive explorations of the arts, history, science and culture.
Terry Braun is an award winning television producer/director and multimedia designer with a history of participation in and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration as an artist, producer and as a commissioner. Terry works as a senior consultant on Multimedia and Information Technology for a range of clients including the Arts Council of England (ACE). He currently serves on ACE's Combined Arts advisory panel and is Chairman of the Combined Arts Projects Fund - the ACE funding committee that is particularly concerned with the relationship between New Technology and the Arts. Terry is also a member of the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Committee, and was on the DCMS Creative Industries panel soon to publish the 'Internet Inquiry Report'
Gabriella Braun has a background in music performance and education, and has worked with Terry over the past nine years across a range of Illuminations Interactive's output. Gabi has had specific responsibility for developing and producing music-driven media projects, both broadcast and multimedia. Her web sites include The Harrison Birtwistle Web Site and The György Ligeti Web Site which have brought Illuminations Interactive an international reputation for the creative use of the internet in interpreting complex contemporary music. Her latest music work on the Braunarts' productions Antarctic Waves and 3D Music shows the extensive development of this interest and has brought great acclaim to the company.
Terry & Gabi's new venture will continue their work of creating interactive multi-media installations and CD-Roms, as well as on-line services for the World Wide Web for museums, galleries, orchestras, broadcasters, universities and other major cultural institutions as well as individual artists across a wide spectrum of genres. They will also continue to produce television programmes about the arts, science and new technologies for broadcasters in Britain and abroad.
