What's he got to do with the Secret Theatres festival?
Mohayed is one of the participants in a series of workshops being led by Roger Marsh and Anna Myatt, with members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Mohayed has been working on his own rendition of the Orpheus myth based on parts of 'The Mask of Orpheus'. In his performance (which can be seen as part of the festival) Mohayed plays Orpheus in the crucial part of the myth where Orpheus tries to lead Euridice out from the underworld.
The way that Mohayed and his colleagues have devised their piece relies substantially on the performing space being used to represent the difficulties of Orpheus' journey, and Mohayed's comments for this web site are to do with his oppinion on Birtwistle's use of space and time, and the ability for the main characters' manifestations to appear in their three time scales simultaneously.
