Answers to Frequently Asked Questions for the NSFTS R & D period -
1. No Shelter from the Storm will be produced by Braunarts. It is the artistic vision of Terry Braun, who will be responsible for selecting,
editing and designing the projections. Braunarts will retain all rights in No Shelter from the Storm. No Shelter from the Storm is being
developed in collaboration with Saul Penfold.
2. Terry will create a digital mock-up indicating how the projections could work in each cathedral installation and will make that
video available to each cathedral. Terry will also be happy to make himself available to present No Shelter from the Storm to interested
parties for the purposes of confirming cathedral interest in participation in this project and establishing each cathedral team. The mock-ups
can be seen at: http://www.braunarts.com/noshelter/
3. Terry will need to 'customise' No Shelter from the Storm for each cathedral, to ensure that the projected images fit the cathedral.
He will need to do some of that on site in each venue and estimates that that work will take about a day.
4. Braunarts is expecting No Shelter from the Storm to spend around four weeks in each cathedral, the final schedule to be agreed
between Braunarts and each cathedral. Braunarts is looking to achieve a minimum of six Cathedral in this tour of No Shelter from the
Storm, provisionally starting in June 2010 and continuing into June 2011.
5. Braunarts will liaise/collaborate with each cathedral to agree the positioning of the video projections inside the cathedral
(being mindful of the fabric of the building and the health and safety of cathedral staff and the public) and the timing of the video
projections in relation to each cathedral's schedule of Liturgical and other events. Braunarts will provide the projectors and any
other required hardware for the installation.
6. Braunarts will be responsible for raising and managing the majority of the funds for the creation and installation of No Shelter from the Storm.
The current R&D phase of No Shelter from the Storm is being funded by Arts Council England. The likely sources of these funds
will be a combination of Arts Council England, Sponsorship, local authority funding and "In Kind" support.
7. Cathedrals are expected to pay a small fee to host No Shelter from the Storm.
8. Braunarts would need each cathedral to contribute "In Kind" support (e.g. paying for electricity,
security, etc. and contributing to local marketing, press etc.)
9. Braunarts will be responsible for insuring the installation, insuring Braunarts's staff (Employers Liability) and will also be
responsible for Public Liability Insurance (£10m) in relation to the installation.
10. Braunarts would be keen to work with each cathedral to identify potential local or national sponsors for No Shelter from
the Storm. (e.g. local "In Kind" sponsors could include hotels for installation staff)
11. Braunarts will work closely with each cathedral to author and manage Press/PR/Marketing.
12. If desired by the cathedral education staff, Braunarts will work with each cathedral and with Saul Penfold to develop
educational and/ other contextualising events to support No Shelter from the Storm. The funding needed to pay for these activities may
need to be raised separately from the production and installation budget for No Shelter from the Storm.
13. These points and all other points of responsibility arising out of this R&D period will be covered in a written agreement
between Braunarts and each cathedral.
