'War in Peace' installation at The Imperial War Museum
The Imperial War Museum opened a new permanent exhibition entitled War in Peace in June 1996.

'War in Peace' complemented the existing exhibitions detailing the histories of WWI and WWII, and continues the story from the aftermath of WWII up to the present day.

Illuminations Interactive won the contract to provide all the audio-visual and interactive multimedia elements for this new exhibition. This work included the selection, editing and presentation of archive footage documenting conflicts across the planet from the Berlin airlift to Bosnia as well as the design, programming and installation of a number of an interactive touchscreen station enabling the public to access a rich source of background information about the last fifty years of "peace".

One of the central images of the exhibition is a hypnotically looped film of a nuclear bomb exploding. This is surely one of the most frightening, powerful and central images of the second half of the 20th century.
